Ward & Stake Events
  • Oct 2-3 - General Conference. Morning sessions: 11am-1pm; afternoon sessions: 3-5pm. Will be shown in the California Building with a ward potluck in between sessions on Sunday (see below). Also available to view online here.
  • Oct 3 - Ward potluck lunch following the morning session of Conference at the California Building. Bring your friends and a dish to share.

  • Oct. 29 @ 6:30pm - Ward Fall Festival. We will start with a Trunk-or-Treat in the church parking lot. Wear your costumes, decorate your car trunk and bring candy for lots of fun.
    Then we will move into the building for dinner, games and more family fun.
  • Every Tuesday - Stake Adult Religion Class. Daytime classes are from 10-11:30am @ the Institute Building. Evening classes are from 7-8:30pm @ the Stake Center.

Relief Society Groups

  • Exercise Group - Every MWF from 6:30-7:30am at the field near the Elzie Odom Rec Center. Join us for light exercises. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle and exercise mat/towel.
  • Quilting-Tying Group - Every 2nd Friday @ 9:30am January-October. Meet at the Institute Building.

Parenting Q&A

These questions were posed and later answered by our RS sisters during our parenting series several months ago.

How do you stay positive when you are overwhelmed with a new baby?

  • call your mom, visiting teacher, or friend for support
  • get out of the house
  • trade babysitting with another mom
  • exercise
  • take a shower
  • do your hair and makeup every day
  • pray
  • listen to uplifting and fun music


How can I foster reverence in my home, and especially during sacrament meeting?

  • practice whispering and folding arms at home
  • bring quiet activities: coloring books, quiet books, Church magazines, etc.
  • if you have to leave the chapel, do not allow your child to get down or have fun
  • encourage sitting with the family


What are some reward systems for teenagers?

  • control cell phone usage and other electronic privileges
  • balance consequences with rewards
  • acknowledge progress and let them choose their reward


What do you find is the best way to foster a loving, close relationship between siblings?

  • encourage working together, share chores
  • serve each other
  • separate siblings as needed
  • teach them how to resolve their own problems


If a child is turned around bothering your child in sacrament meeting, what can you do?

  • sit in the front row or back row
  • tell your children that they cannot talk to them right now but they can after the meeting
  • bring extra quiet activities to share


How do you motivate a teenager?

  • make things a competition or game
  • explore their interests
  • reward with extra freedoms
  • validate the positive behaviors, offer praise


How do you encourage Personal Progress or Duty to God without causing a reluctant child to rebel?

  • combine with another family
  • break it down so it’s not so overwhelming
  • incorporate it into FHE
  • use the missionaries


In wanting to keep an “open-door” policy, how do I set boundaries for my married children?

  • request for them to call ahead before coming over
  • manage set times, as in when it is too late
  • spend quality time with each one on separate days
  • have a family dinner once a week


How do you help your grandchildren to get closer to the church without hurting their feelings or their parents’ feelings?

  • bring them to church activities
  • set a good example
  • pray for guidance

Let's head to the zoo!! (Weather Permitting) Let's check out the new M.O.L.A.! Bring your lunch or buy one there. Let's show those animals our little animals!

MOTHER'S GROUP

St. Patrick's Day crafts & snacks
. March 17 @ 10:30am at River Legacy Park.
Let's celebrate St. Patrick's Day with crafts, music, and snacks! Please bring a snack to share with everyone! We will meet by the playground. (Turn left, once you pull into the park and drive around until you see the gazebo and playground on the right.)


Fun with Nature at the River Legacy Science Center. March 18 @ 10am.
Join us for a fun day with nature and art. Moms and kiddos will also be able to go out for a "self - guided" nature walk though the beautiful park. Their is no cost for this event. This play date is best suited for children who are 2.5 and older because of the activities.
